DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Nov 13 (APP):All the preparations have been finalized for the Measles-Rubella immunization campaign starting in Dera Ismail Khan from November 17, aiming to vaccinate around 300,000 children aged six months to five years.
Organized by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department in collaboration with the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI), the campaign will continue until November 29.
According to District Health Officer Dr. Syed Muhammad and District EPI Coordinator Dr. Irfan Aziz, special vaccination teams have been deployed, and all staff have been trained to ensure smooth implementation. A district monitoring cell has also been established to supervise progress.
The health officials warned that measles is a highly contagious and potentially fatal disease, while rubella can cause serious birth defects if contracted during pregnancy. Parents have been urged to cooperate with vaccination teams and ensure their children receive the measles-rubella vaccine.
Dr. Irfan Aziz also appealed to the public, media, and civil society to support the awareness efforts and help build a healthier, disease-free society.
