CANBERRA, Nov. 13 (Xinhua/APP): Australia’s unemployment rate fell in October after hitting the highest level in almost four years in September, official figures published on Thursday showed.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) said that the unemployment rate was 4.3 percent in October compared to 4.5 percent in September, which was the highest figure for any month since November 2021.
Sean Crick, head of labor statistics at the ABS, said in a statement that the October figure matched the unemployment rate reported in June, July and August.
The number of employed Australians increased by 42,200 between September and October, the ABS said, while the number of unemployed Australians fell by 17,000 in the same period.
Full-time employment increased by 55,300 people in October, while part-time employment decreased by 13,100.
Crick said that more people moved into employment compared to a typical October.
The total number of hours worked by Australians was 0.5 percent higher in October than in September at 1.99 billion.
