ISLAMABAD, Nov 12 (APP):The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted that dry weather will continue to dominate most parts of the country on Thursday, while hilly and northern regions brace for cold to very cold conditions during the morning and night.
The lingering dryness, coupled with falling temperatures, marks the onset of late autumn’s characteristic chill across Pakistan.
In Islamabad and its adjoining areas, the weather is expected to remain dry throughout the day.
Residents of the capital may experience a noticeable drop in temperatures during early morning and night hours, making warm clothing essential for the season.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, dry weather is likely to prevail across most districts, while high-altitude areas such as Chitral, Swat, and Dir are expected to remain cold to very cold.
The chilly breeze in hilly regions will intensify during the night, bringing a crisp winter feel.
Across Punjab, most districts will remain dry with moderate daytime temperatures. However, Murree and Galliyat will experience cold and dry weather, while smog and shallow fog patches may develop in plain areas including Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot, and Gujranwala during the morning and night hours. Reduced visibility could affect early travel and commuting.
In Sindh, the weather will stay dry, accompanied by mild daytime warmth and cooler nights, particularly in interior districts such as Sukkur, Larkana, and Nawabshah. Coastal areas including Karachi and Thatta will continue to enjoy pleasant conditions with light evening breezes.
Meanwhile, Balochistan will experience cold to very cold conditions in its northern districts such as Ziarat, Kalat, and Quetta, while the southern belt is expected to remain dry and moderately cool. Residents of the northern highlands have been advised to prepare for frosty mornings.
In Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, the weather will remain cold and dry, with very cold conditions expected during the morning and night.
Frost formation and freezing temperatures are likely in valleys, particularly in Skardu, Astore, and Hunza.
During the last 24 hours, the weather remained dry across most parts of the country, while cold conditions prevailed in hilly areas. Smog and shallow fog continued to affect visibility over several plain districts of Punjab.
The lowest minimum temperatures recorded were Leh -07C, Skardu -06, Gilgit and Ziarat -03, Kalat -02, Quetta and Astore -01C.
The PMD has advised citizens, especially those in northern and hilly areas, to take precautionary measures against the cold, and motorists in Punjab’s plains to drive carefully amid possible smog and fog patches.
