BAHAWALPUR, Nov 12 (APP):Punjab Emergency Service Rescue 1122 Bahawalpur organized the Intra-District Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) competitions at Government Boys High School, Canal Colony.
Teams from Bahawalpur City, Bahawalpur Sadar, Ahmedpur East, Khairpur Tamewali, Hasilpur, and Yazman participated in the event. Rescue and Safety Officers from all tehsils of Bahawalpur district also accompanied their respective teams.
The purpose of the competitions was to train volunteers for disaster preparedness so they can assist Rescue 1122 and other emergency agencies during relief operations. The training enables volunteers to respond effectively in emergencies and help save lives before professional rescuers arrive.
District Emergency Officer Baqar Hussain said that building a safe society requires every individual to acquire practical emergency response training so they can assist victims in coordination with rescue and relevant departments during unforeseen incidents. He added that Rescue 1122 Bahawalpur has established community teams at the union council level to strengthen local response capacity.
He further announced that volunteers demonstrating outstanding performance in these competitions will have the opportunity to participate in the national-level competitions at the Emergency Services Academy, Rescue 1122 Lahore, in December on the occasion of International Volunteer Day.
