LAHORE, Nov 12 (APP):The Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) continued its anti-smog operation in the provincial capital, sealing over a dozen factories in the past month for violating environmental regulations.
According to a spokesperson, RUDA sealed factories in Babakwal and Mahmood Booti areas, including Asfalt Bleaching Plant, Shahzad Mill, Aatif, BM, Haji Alif Unit, and Mashallah Steel, for failing to comply with environmental standards.
The authority also got registered a case against the owner of one of the factories and issued warning letters to several other industrial units for non-compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
However, four factories have been reopened after they ensured compliance with environmental regulations and took measures to reduce air pollution.
In a related development, RUDA and the Punjab Environmental Protection Agency organized an anti-smog walk in the industrial zone to raise awareness about the importance of reducing air pollution.
