LAHORE, Nov 12 (APP):Brigadier Babar Ala-ud-Din, SI (Military), Chairperson of the Punjab Inspection, Surveillance & Monitoring Directorate, visited the office of Punjab Municipal Development Fund Company (PMDFC) in Lahore on Wednesday.
The delegation was warmly received by PMDFC Managing Director Syed Zahid Aziz along with senior officials, who provided a comprehensive briefing on ongoing development initiatives.
During the meeting, detailed updates were shared on the Punjab Cities Program and the Chief Minister’s Punjab Development Programme.
Currently, the Punjab Cities Programme is active in 16 cities, while the Chief Minister’s Development Programme is being implemented in 52 cities. MD PMDFC Zahid Aziz also announced the upcoming launch of the World Bank-funded Punjab Inclusive Cities Program in 16 additional cities.
The projects incorporate modern HDPE-lined pipes, significantly extending the lifespan of sewerage systems from 25 years to over 100 years. All schemes are designed to meet the population’s needs for the next 25 years, and all disposal stations will operate on solar power.
Brigadier Babar Alaudin emphasized that sewerage connections for private housing schemes will be subject to fee payment and that public utility projects should be completed on a priority basis.
He reiterated that, in line with the vision of Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab, the provision of clean water, improved sanitation, and modern urban infrastructure remains a top priority.
The chairperson also highlighted the importance of transparency, quality, and timely completion in all development projects and commended PMDFC’s performance, urging the team to continue working with dedication and commitment.
