Bhakkar administration vows zero-tolerance on sub-standard food

BHAKKAR, Nov 12 (APP):Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Bhakkar released its weekly performance report, during the past week, authority carried out inspections at 333 locations, covering hotels, grocery stores, food points, meat and milk shops, and sweet factories, these were under the “Healthy Punjab” vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
According to APP correspondent, corrective notices were issued to 137 business centers, and heavy fines were levied for sub-standard and defective items.
At Dajal Chowki, the meat supply was checked, resulting in fines for poor quality, and 32 kg of expired meat was seized and destroyed on the spot.
In a parallel operation, checkpoints were set up on milk transport routes, screening 119,055 liters of milk. Of this, 100 liters of defective milk were found unfit and destroyed. Violations of food safety laws attracted a total fine of Rs 276,000.
District administration and PFA Bhakkar have reiterated a zero-tolerance policy toward sub-standard food, emphasizing that no leniency will be shown to protect public health and ensure safe, quality food for the community.
