CHINIOT, Nov 12 (APP):Punjab Minister for Health Khawaja Imran Nazir here on Wednesday visited and inspected the relief fund distribution camp established for flood-affected families.
Deputy Commissioner Safiullah Gondal briefed the minister on ongoing relief operations and the district administration’s efforts.
Speaking to the media persons, the minister said that over 14,000 flood victims in the district were eligible for financial assistance, and around 4,500 victims had already received relief payments.
He added, “We provided timely vaccines and medical facilities to save lives.”
The minister praised the performance of all departments, adding , “All teams worked day and night in the service of people — rescuing victims was a major challenge, but it was handled efficiently.”
He congratulated the Commissioner Faisalabad, Deputy Commissioner Chiniot, and the Bank of Punjab team for their effective coordination.
Khawaja Imran revealed that over 250 snakebite cases were reported among flood victims, but no deaths occurred due to the swift availability of anti-venom and medical aid.
He further noted, “The flood damage survey in Punjab was conducted transparently, with no irregularities observed.”
Highlighting the role of the provincial leadership, he said, “Thanks to Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s dedication, we overcame this crisis. For the first time in Punjab’s history, we managed a disaster of this scale without any external assistance.”
About regional and security matters, Nazir remarked, “We have hosted our neighboring country’s people for many years, but we urge them not to become a proxy for India. If that happens, we know how to respond — just as we downed Indian aircraft before.”
He reaffirmed, “Our forces know how to defend the country.”
