ATTOCK, Nov 12 (APP):In a bid to enhance wheat productivity and reduce yield gaps across northern Punjab, the Punjab Agriculture Extension Department, in collaboration with Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi, has launched an intensive “Wheat Maximization Campaign” in district on Wednesday.
The campaign, features a series of road shows, rallies, smart farmer gatherings, and door-to-door awareness activities across various union councils, including Formoli, Haroon, Tajak, and Nartopa.
During farmers’ gatherings held in Awanabad and Formoli villages, a large number of growers attended interactive sessions led by Assistant Director Agriculture (Extension) Hazro, Zafar Iqbal Khan, Agriculture Officer Samina Fatima, Field Investigator Muhammad Irshad, and experts from Arid University — Ms. Rabia and Abdul Rehman.
The teams briefed the farmers on modern cultivation technologies, certified seed varieties, balanced fertilizer use, and water-efficient sowing techniques aimed at maximizing per-acre yield.
The farmers participating in the awareness sessions were also briefed on the Punjab government’s subsidy schemes for certified seed, laser land leveling, and modern implements.
“If farmers adopt these technologies and sow the crop within the recommended window, the district can surpass its past wheat production record,” said Agriculture Officer Samina Fatima.
