CM Punjab, former New Zealand PM inaugurate Pakistan Pavilion at COP-30 conference in Brazil

LAHORE, Nov 11 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif along with former Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern inaugurated the Pakistan Pavilion at the COP-30 Conference in Brazil.
The Punjab government has established the pavilion to showcase its environmental initiatives and its commitment to sustainable development, said a handout issued here on Tuesday.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Jacinda Ardern jointly cut the ribbon to formally open the pavilion. Jacinda Ardern is serving as the Special Representative for Pacific Nations at the COP-30 Conference.
During the inaugural ceremony, the two leaders viewed a documentary highlighting the Punjab government’s environmental improvement initiatives. Jacinda Ardern commended the government’s eco-friendly measures and its dedicated efforts to combat pollution.
Later, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif held a meeting with Jacinda Ardern in which they exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and discussed strategies to address global environmental challenges. The CM briefed her on Punjab’s comprehensive strategy to tackle environmental issues and promote green development.
Jacinda Ardern appreciated Punjab’s bold and timely actions to improve environmental conditions, describing them as exemplary steps taken within a short span of time.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif paid tribute to Jacinda Ardern’s distinguished service to the people of New Zealand during her tenure as Prime Minister.
Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and Provincial Ministers Rana Sikandar Hayat and Zeeshan Rafique were also present on the occasion.
