ISLAMABAD, Nov 11 (APP):The seventh round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2025-26 got underway in Abbottabad, Islamabad, Peshawar and Rawalpindi as day one saw three centuries and a solitary five-wicket haul.
Faisalabad’s duo of emerging batters Muhammad Awais Zafar (138 not out, 139b, 16x4s, 5x6s) and Faham-ul-Haq (109, 232b, 18x4s) struck centuries to take their team to 322-4 in 81 overs at stumps against Islamabad at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium.
Faham, who struck his second first-class century in five innings, stitched a 188-run fourth-wicket stand with Awais as Faisalabad found themselves 111-3 after opting to bat first. Awais struck his sixth first-class century after scoring a solitary half-century in previous six matches of the tournament.
Abbottabad were reeling at 31-3 in 14 overs trailing by 227 runs against Karachi Blues at stumps on day one as Saqib Khan landed three blows in seven overs giving away just 14 runs.
Earlier, Blues were lifted to 258 all out in 80 overs on the back of unbeaten half-century from Danish Aziz (89 not out, 152b, 7x4s, 2x6s) and a 48-ball 43 from Shan Masood inclusive of six fours.
At the Marghzar Cricket Ground in Islamabad, Multan were 225 runs behind Sialkot as they closed out the day with 63-2 in 13 overs with Mehran Mumtaz trapping their openers leg-before.
Earlier, left-arm spinner Ali Usman’s 5-98 and Ghulam Haider’s 3-98 affected a batting collapse as Sialkot went from 188-2 to 288 all out in 76.3 overs.
Sialkot’s opening batters Azan Awais (81, 170b, 5x4s, 2x6s) and Mohammad Huraira (60, 64b, 11x4s, 1×6) provided their team with a 113-run opening stand, while Mohsin Riaz (44, 102b, 8x4s) was the only other batter to cross the 20-run mark.
Fata’s Salman Khan Jnr struck his third career and second consecutive first-class century (114, 209b, 11x4s) and in alliance with Khushdil Shah (95, 109b, 12x4s, 2x6s) helped his team to finish 271-6 in 92.2 overs against Bahawalpur at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium in Peshawar
The duo got together at 18-2 and then stitched a 156-run third-wicket stand. For Bahawalpur, Gulfam Aziz and Muhammad Imran picked up two wickets each.
Lahore Whites were 30-2 in 13 overs against Peshawar at the Diamond Cricket Ground, trailing by 215 runs, when the stumps were drawn after a 12-wicket day Mohammad Amir Khan struck twice late in the day to put his team ahead at close.
Earlier, Lahore Whites’ spin bowling trio of Noman Ali (4-78), Qasim Akram (3-42) and Mohammad Rameez Jnr (3-60) took 10-180 in 61.1 overs combined to dismiss Peshawar for 245 in 76.1 overs.
For the last season’s runner-ups, opening batter Israrullah (83, 120b, 9x4s, 1×6) was the only batter to cross fifty for his team, while also providing a decent 64-run opening stand alongside Mohammad Mohsin Khan (24, 47b, 3x4s).
