FAISALABAD, Nov 11 (APP):Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA) Managing Director (MD) Sohail Qadir Cheema has issued a directive to lay at least 2,000 feet of pipeline every week under ongoing development schemes and warned that the contractors showing sluggish performance would be served with notices.
Chairing a progress review meeting on various schemes launched under Annual Development Program (ADP), he stressed the need to accelerate construction work to ensure 70 percent completion by the end of December.
He directed that all contractors should expedite the pace of pipeline installation work across all projects and maintaining steady progress toward timely completion. He instructed the consultant agency NESPAK to closely monitor each scheme and submit weekly progress reports for ensuring that no project installs less than 2,000 feet of pipeline per week.
He further ordered that the contractors responsible for slow progress would be formally warned through written letters. He urged the contractors to enhance their work speed by increasing both manpower and machinery.
He made it clear that non-performing contractors would be terminated and new contract would be issued to ensure continuity and timely completion of development schemes.
He also directed that all necessary machinery and equipment should be transported to Faisalabad by the end of November to avoid delays in implementation.
Deputy Managing Director (Engineering) Saqib Raza, Director Construction Ali Ahmad, Director Operations Makhdoom Babar, Sanwal Malik and other senior officers were also present in the meeting and they also reviewed the latest progress and discussed measures to ensure strict adherence to timelines and quality standards.
