SUKKUR, Nov 11 (APP): A delegation from Sukkur Press Club met with Divisional Commissioner Abid Salim Qureshi at his office on Tuesday to highlight dire conditions at Civil Hospital and exploitation in the city’s date Palm Market.
The team was led by General Secretary Imdad Bozdar and included Farid Soomro, Dr Abdul Waheed Mastoi, Anas Ghanghro and Amir Bux Chauhan.
The delegation reported that doctors at the hospital are routinely absent, essential medicines are unavailable and the gynecology ward lacks basic facilities.
They also cited rampant injustice in the mandis: middlemen are garging arbitrary commissions from farmers while women laborers are forced into poverty wages. There are no washrooms or clinics for women in the markets, and harassment reports are emerging.
Commissioner Qureshi took immediate note, demanded reports from officials and vowed decisive action. He urged citizens to escalate complaints via 0311-1234567 or complaints@sukhur.gov.pk.
