PESHAWAR, Nov 11 (APP):The Technical Working Group (TWG) on Antimicrobial Resistance for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to actively observe the International Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) week from November 18 to 24, 2025 under the theme,`Act Now, Protect our Present, secure our Future’.
According to a press release issued here, all District Health Officers, Medical Superintendents and Directors of MTI hospitals are directed to actively observe the week for creating awareness among masses about AMR.
The AMR week will commence through organizing an awareness walk involving clinical staff, paramedics and community under the leadership of a senior official at district level.
Banners and posters will also be displayed in local languages across all hospital’s jurisdictions, OPDs, wards and waiting areas.
Key messages would be disseminated on the dangers of self-medication and importance of rational antibiotic use through local radio stations, official social media platforms and print media.
Similarly for promotion of antibiotic stewardship, dedicated sessions would be conducted with the importance of prescribing antibiotics based on clinical guidelines and cultural sensitivity reports.
