Twelve martyred, 27 injured — lawyers, police among victims in Islamabad suicide blast

ISLAMABAD, Nov 11 (APP):At least 12 people embraced martyrdom, including lawyers and police personnel, while 27 others sustained injuries in a suicide blast near the Judicial Complex in Islamabad on Tuesday afternoon.

The powerful explosion shook the vicinity and triggered a large-scale rescue and security response across the federal capital.

An Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police official told APP that at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), 12 deaths have been confirmed, while 27 injured persons are under treatment in different wards. Rescue officials said several more wounded were still being brought in from the site.

Initial findings by bomb disposal and forensic experts confirmed the explosion as a suicide attack.

Rescue 1122 and ICT Police teams quickly reached the scene, shifting the injured to PIMS Hospital for treatment.
Police personnel from Ramna and Kohsar Police Stations were among those injured while performing duty near the Judicial Complex.

The area was immediately cordoned off by security forces as forensic and counter-terrorism units collected evidence to determine the identity and network of the attacker.

Law-enforcement agencies tightened security across the federal capital, deploying additional personnel around sensitive buildings and judicial premises to prevent any further untoward incident.
