LAHORE, Nov 10 (APP):An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday granted a 17-day physical remand of five workers of banned religious party in a case related to attacking police officials and rioting.
The court, presided over by Administrative Judge Manzer Ali Gill, handed the accused to police custody and directed that they be produced again on November 27.
Shahdara Police presented the suspects in court. Those placed on physical remand include Muhammad Bilal, Muhammad Tahir, Muhammad Qasim, and Muhammad Khalil.
Meanwhile, the court sent five other suspects — Hafiz Nadeem, Muhammad Rizwan, Muhammad Zahid, Muhammad Sharif, and Muhammad Mahfooz — to jail for identification parade. The suspects for identification were brought to court with their faces covered.
The investigating officer informed the court that the accused were involved in attacks on police personnel, arson, and rioting, adding that sticks and clubs were recovered from their possession.
The case has been registered at Shahdara Police Station under charges of attempted murder and terrorism.
