MULTAN, Nov 10 (APP):The Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) has completed four high-tension feeder projects under its Energy Loss Reduction (ELR) initiative, marking another step forward in the company’s ongoing efforts to modernize the power distribution network and reduce system losses. The projects were completed at a total cost of Rs 45.5 million.
According to Additional Chief Engineer (Construction) MEPCO, Farhan Shabbir Malik, these development works were carried out under the guidance of Chief Executive Officer Engineer Gul Muhammad Zahid, who has directed a region-wide campaign to improve power infrastructure on high-loss feeders. He said that through a combination of area planning, rehabilitation, and bifurcation, MEPCO is ensuring more reliable electricity supply to consumers while significantly cutting down on line losses.
During October 2025, several important projects were completed in different operational circles. In Dera Ghazi Khan Circle, the 11KV Haji Pur Feeder linked to Fazilpur Grid Station was upgraded at a cost of Rs 19.13 million, while in Muzaffargarh Circle, the 11KV Tube Well No. 6 Feeder from Kot Addu Grid Station was completed at a cost of Rs. 4.2 million. Similarly, in Sahiwal Circle, the 11KV Hala Feeder connected to Komir Grid Station underwent area planning and rehabilitation costing Rs. 23.9 million, and in Vehari Circle, the 11KV Umerpur Feeder from Sahoka Grid Station was developed at an expense of Rs. 19.82 million.
Farhan Shabbir Malik noted that MEPCO’s ongoing infrastructure upgrades are aimed at creating a more efficient, low-loss power distribution system across South Punjab.
He added that the company remains committed to supporting the government’s vision of sustainable energy development, ensuring that the people of the region continue to receive uninterrupted and improved electricity services.
