Public mobilization for clean, green Punjab: Awareness meeting held in Kotli Sattian

RAWALPINDI, November 10 (APP): A key meeting under the ‘Suthra Punjab Programme’ for promoting cleanliness and environmental sustainability was held at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Kotli Sattian, presided over by Assistant Commissioner Dr. Sana Ramchand.
The session brought together union council secretaries, local notables, mosque clerics, schoolteachers, community elders, and village representatives from across the region. The purpose of the meeting was to raise public awareness about sanitation, environmental protection, and public health, as well as to devise a practical roadmap to implement the Suthra Punjab Programme more effectively.
During the meeting, participants were briefed in detail about the objectives, ongoing activities, and future targets of the provincial cleanliness drive. Representatives from various union councils highlighted challenges related to waste management, community behavior, and infrastructure gaps in their respective areas, while presenting constructive suggestions to make the initiative more sustainable and impactful.
In her address, Dr. Sana Ramchand emphasized that the essence of the Suthra Punjab Programme goes beyond cleaning streets and markets. “Our goal is to cultivate a sense of responsibility, discipline, and collective awareness among citizens,” she said. “It is everyone’s duty to keep their homes, neighborhoods, and institutions clean to ensure a healthy environment for future generations.”
She further underscored that no government initiative can succeed without public participation, urging communities to actively engage in cleanliness efforts and encourage others to join hands in maintaining a clean and green Punjab.
Participants reaffirmed their commitment to contributing to cleanliness, waste disposal, and environmental improvement activities in their respective areas to make Kotli Sattian a model of cleanliness and sustainability.
At the conclusion of the meeting, participants appreciated Dr. Sana Ramchand’s efforts and pledged full cooperation to ensure the success of the Suthra Punjab Programme.
