LAHORE, Nov 10 (APP):Wildlife Rangers from the Lahore Region, Khanewal, and Rahim Yar Khan have successfully rescued a crocodile from a fish farm in Kasur, while also apprehending five individuals involved in the illegal hunting of the rare houbara bustard and the unlawful trade of Hardwicke’s spiny-tailed lizard (Saara hardwickii), commonly known as Sandhas.
The Rangers have registered FIRs against the accused in local police stations and initiated legal proceedings. The rescued crocodile was safely released into its natural habitat in the Ravi River.
According to the details, the Wildlife Rangers team from Kasur, led by Deputy Chief Wildlife Ranger Lahore Region Dr. Ghulam Rasool, rescued the young crocodile from a local fish farm with the help of the local community. After ensuring its safety, the crocodile was released in a secure area of the Ravi River.
In another successful operation, Assistant Chief Wildlife Ranger Munawar Hussain Najmi and his team from Khanewal arrested an individual involved in the illegal Sandha trade. They seized 20 Sandhas from the suspect and filed an FIR at the local police station.
