LAHORE, Nov 09 (APP): Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has said that progress in education is the foundation of a bright and prosperous future for the country and society.
Addressing the convocation of Lahore Leads University via video link on Sunday, the minister said the world recognises the skills, creativity, and potential of Pakistan’s youth, and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has introduced policies aimed at empowering them.
He said the government is ensuring equal opportunities for young people across the country. Congratulating the graduates, he praised their dedication and the sacrifices of their parents, noting that their achievement was the result of hard work and perseverance.
The minister also commended Leads University, its faculty, vice chancellor, and the Board of Governors for their role in promoting education and equipping students with modern knowledge and technological skills.
Highlighting the importance of education, Tarar said that “68 percent of Pakistan’s population comprises youth, who are the true guarantee of the country’s bright future.” He stressed that equipping them with relevant skills is vital for national development, and institutions like Leads University are playing a crucial role in this regard.
He noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s government has prioritised youth empowerment through education, technology, and skills development, citing the ongoing distribution of 100,000 laptops purely on merit this year. He added that over 1.1 million laptops have been distributed during different tenures of the PML-N government.
The minister said that talent is emerging from every region of the country — Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan — and the government is committed to nurturing this potential.
Concluding his address, Attaullah Tarar said that investing in youth is, in fact, an investment in Pakistan’s future, expressing his confidence that the country’s young generation will make Pakistan’s name shine globally. He wished the graduates continued success and prosperity in their future endeavours.
