LAHORE, Nov 09 (APP): Sikh pilgrims from India visiting Pakistan through the Wagah border crossing participated in religious rituals at Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur, in connection with the birth anniversary celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
The Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (PSGPC), in collaboration with the Project Management Unit (PMU) Kartarpur, organised a vibrant Kabaddi festival in honour of the visiting yatrees, which they enjoyed immensely. According to an Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) spokesperson, the celebrations resounded with slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad” and “Sri Akal”.
Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, President of the PSGPC and Punjab Minister for Minorities Affairs, attended the Kabaddi match as chief guest. He expressed gratitude to Additional Secretary Shrines Nasser Mushtaq, CCO Kartarpur Management Abu Bakar Aftab Qureshi, and the Kabaddi Federation for their contributions to organising the event. He noted that such cultural and sporting activities promote hospitality and convey Pakistan’s message of peace to the global Sikh community, while also strengthening international goodwill.
The visiting yatrees urged the Indian government to fully open the Kartarpur Corridor, emphasising that people-to-people, cultural, and sports exchanges can help improve bilateral relations.
The event was attended by the Deputy Commissioner Narowal, representatives of the district administration, police, Rescue 1122, local Sikh community members, and Indian pilgrims. The yatrees will next visit Gurdwara Rohri Sahib in Eminabad before arriving in Lahore on November 10.
