Mikaeel Ali wins ITF World Jr Tennis C’ship title

ISLAMABAD, Nov 09 (APP): Pakistan’s Mikaeel Ali Baig bagged the ITF Pakistan National Foods World Junior Tennis Championship J-60 2025 title here at the PTF-SDA Tennis Complex on Sunday.
A large number of junior tennis players from around the world, including China, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Lithuania, Russia, Thailand, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Nepal and the host nation, Pakistan, participated in this prestigious tournament.
In the Boys’ Singles final, Mikaeel Ali Baig defeated Hamza Roman 6-4,6-4. This marks Mikaeel’s third consecutive title, a remarkable achievement for both him and Pakistan. Mikaeel showed outstanding form over the three weeks, claiming three titles in a row—an impressive boost for his international ranking.
In the Boys’ Doubles final, Pakistan’s Hamza Roman and Abubakar Talha defeated Mikaeel Ali Baig (PAK) and Kristijonas (LTU) in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, to capture the ITF Pakistan J-60 Doubles Title.
Hamza and Abubakar displayed exceptional tennis throughout the tournament. Notably, Hamza was also the runner-up in the singles event.
Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, Federal Secretary, Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), was the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony, while Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, President-PTF, was the Guest of Honour. They distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up, along with Col. (R) Zia-ud-Din Tufail, Secretary General of PTF.
The closing ceremony was also attended by DIG Saleem Marwat (SEVP-PTF), Maj. Suleman Junaid (SEVP-PTF), Syed Fahim Imam (Chief Marketing Officer Serena Hotels), Col. (R) Gul Rehman (Director C&S PTF), as well as a large number of players, parents, coaches, journalists, and tennis enthusiasts.
Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, Secretary IPC, congratulated all the winners and runners-up and praised the PTF for successfully hosting international tournaments, assuring full government support for future events.
Aisam-ul-Haq, congratulated all the players, noting their outstanding performances over the past three weeks. He extended special congratulations to Mikaeel for his three consecutive ITF titles, and to Hamza and Abubakar for their doubles victory. Aisam also added that with Pakistan’s Nadir Mirza, Abubakar Talha, and now Mikaeel Ali Baig winning three singles titles in just half a year, Pakistani players have collectively secured five ITF singles titles, a remarkable milestone that highlights the bright, promising future of tennis in Pakistan.
Col. (R) Zia-ud-Din Tufail, Secretary General PTF, also congratulated all the winners and runners-up, expressing satisfaction with the players’ performances throughout the three-week series.
