PESHAWAR, Nov 09 (APP): In response to a recent surge in terrorist attacks across southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, snap checking operations have been resumed in Peshawar after a gap of five years.
Police, security forces and the City Patrol Force have established joint checkpoints in areas including Pushtakhara and Ring Road to enhance security measures.
According to police officials on Sunday, snipers have been deployed at key check posts located in the suburban areas of Badaber, Mattani, Hassan Khel, Warsak, Regi, Armar and those bordering the tribal district of Khyber. In the next phase, Peshawar Police will also be equipped with thermal technology to strengthen surveillance at sensitive locations.
Officials stated that the initiative aims at monitoring criminal movement, ensure public safety and maintain law and order in coordination with the Pakistan Army. Security personnel are actively monitoring major highways, as well as entry and exit routes of the city.
The decision follows a wave of recent attacks on police and law enforcement agencies in tribal and southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Authorities have confirmed that daily snap checking will now be conducted at major entry and exit points across Peshawar to counter potential threats and improve overall security.
