RAWALPINDI, Nov 09 (APP): Police have intensified their crackdown against gambling and arrested 19 gamblers from different areas here on Sunday.
According to police, Pirwadhai police conducted a raid and arrested 11 gamblers, recovering Rs142,500 in stake money, 07 mobile phones, and playing cards from their custody.
Similarly, Waris Khan police apprehended 08 gamblers and seized Rs20,000 in cash, 08 mobile phones, and playing cards from their possession.
Police have registered separate cases against all of them and further investigation is underway.
A police spokesperson said gambling is a root cause of other social evils, adding that those involved in such unlawful activities will not be spared.
