IGP Rizvi honors 36 officers with bravery and Ghazi medals during “Ghazi Week” ceremony

ISLAMABAD, Nov 09 (APP): Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police held a prestigious ceremony at Police Lines Headquarters as part of the ongoing “Ghazi Week” to honor 36 officers for their courage, sacrifice, and exemplary service in the line of duty.
An official told APP on Sunday that Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi attended the event as the chief guest. Senior police officers, Ghazis, their families, and a large number of police personnel were also present at the ceremony.

During the event, 21 officers were awarded the Shujaat (Bravery) Medal and 15 officers received the Ghazi Medal, along with certificates of appreciation. Officers honored with the Shujaat Medal were also given Rs. 200,000 each, while Ghazi Medal recipients were awarded Rs. 100,000, in recognition of their courage and commitment to duty.
Addressing the gathering, IGP Rizvi stated that 131 officers of Islamabad Police have attained the title of Ghazi brave men who stood firm in the line of duty and sustained injuries while safeguarding lives and property of citizens.

“The Ghazis of Islamabad Police are fearless defenders and a precious national asset,” he said. “The spirit of sacrifice is a divine blessing bestowed only upon the bravest sons of a nation. Those who offered their today for others’ tomorrow will forever be remembered in history.”

He added that the families of these heroes deserve the highest respect for their steadfastness and support. “When these Ghazis go on missions, their loved ones send them off with prayers — their purpose is service, their goal is sacrifice,” he said.
IGP Rizvi expressed deep pride in standing among the honored officers, stating, “I salute the mothers, elders, and daughters who nurtured these brave men. The entire Islamabad Police force salutes these heroes who know no fear and dedicate their lives to the safety of the nation.”
The ceremony concluded with heartfelt tributes to the Ghazis, applause for their bravery, and a renewed pledge by the Islamabad Police to continue serving with courage, faith, and devotion to duty
