MIRPUR, Nov 8 (APP): Azad Jammu & Kashmir President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry has said that Allama Iqbal was a towering figure of the subcontinent whose legacy will forever remain a source of pride for the Muslim Ummah, it was officially said.
“Besides being a great poet, Dr. Allama Iqbal was a distinguished jurist, philosopher, and visionary political thinker,” the president said, adding that Iqbal’s universal message of unity aims to inspire Muslims to rise as a strong, cohesive force capable of resisting all forms of political, economic, and social imperialism, the AJK President’s office told APP on Saturday.
In his message on the birth anniversary of the Poet of the East, Hazrat Allama Iqbal, falling on Nov. 9—Sunday, President Chaudhry said that Allama Iqbal awakened Muslims across the world through his poetry, urging them to respond with vigor and confidence to the challenges of modern life.
“Dr. Iqbal particularly drew the world’s attention to the pain and suffering of the Kashmiri people and highlighted their plight through his poetry,” he said, adding that Iqbal not only lamented their oppression but also symbolically expressed solidarity with their struggle for freedom and dignity.
The president emphasized that it was only through unity, mutual understanding, and collective effort that Muslims could regain their lost glory and stature.
He said that Iqbal’s teachings call for hard work, self-reliance, and steadfastness, and warn against dependence on others.
