SARGODHA, Nov 07 (APP):Commissioner Jahanzeb Awan on Friday directed officials to accelerate construction of 39 ongoing and newly-approved building projects being executed under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) so that citizens can start reaping benefits ahead of schedule.
Chairing a progress review at his office, the Commissioner was informed that the Building Department is currently implementing 22 schemes worth Rs 5.126 billion, while another 17 fresh schemes valued at Rs 706.8 million would be tendered shortly. Collectively, 41 per cent of the total work has already been completed.
Briefing the meeting, Director Development Bilal Hassan and Superintending Engineer Buildings Amanat Ali said the portfolio spans special and higher education, health & population welfare, social protection, judiciary, police, public prosecution, home, revenue, agriculture, minerals, governance & IT and climate-change sectors.
A separate block under construction at the Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education, Sargodha was also reviewed.
“Every rupee of development money is a trust of the people,” the commissioner Jahanzaib Awan reminded the officers, warning that zero-tolerance for corruption or slackness would be enforced.
He instructed departments to ensure transparency, merit and quality at every stage and to submit fortnightly progress reports to the Divisional Secretariat.
The commissioner set a two-month deadline for completion of all ongoing schemes and ordered expedited approvals for the new ones so that ground-breaking can begin before the close of the current fiscal year.
