FAISALABAD, Nov 07 (APP):A day-long seminar and Turkish cultural exhibition was held here at Government College Women University Faisalabad on Friday to commemorate the Turkish Republic Day (29th October) and celebrate the long history of Pakistan-Türkiye friendship.
The seminar was arranged by the Directorate of Student Affairs, in collaboration with the Departments of English, Political Science & IR, Art & Design, Physical Education, and the Women Development & Mentoring Center.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen (T.I.) presided over the event.
Mrs. Meltem Simsek, wife and representative of the Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye, Lahore participated as the Chief Guest.
She lauded GCWUF’s efforts to promote intercultural harmony and academic collaboration and appreciated the vibrant student participation in promoting Turkish art, culture, and language.
“Pakistan and Türkiye share a timeless bond of faith, friendship, and shared values. I am deeply impressed by GCWUF’s spirit of inclusivity and the students’ creative representation of Turkish culture. Such initiatives beautifully strengthen people-to-people connections,” remarked Mrs. Simsek.
In her address, Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen (T.I.) expressed gratitude to the Turkish Consulate for its continued support and reaffirmed GCWUF’s commitment to fostering meaningful international linkages.
“Our collaboration with Türkiye reflects GCWUF’s vision of preparing globally aware graduates who respect diversity, cultural richness, and mutual learning. Through such exchanges, we aim to deepen educational and cultural cooperation between our nations,” stated the Vice Chancellor.
The Chief Guest also joined the Vice Chancellor in a friendly badminton match, symbolizing the warmth and camaraderie between the two countries.
The event began with the inauguration of the Turkish Cultural Exhibition, featuring exquisite artworks and visual representations of Turkish heritage and Pak-Turkish unity. Students of the participating Departments enriched the celebration with interactive cultural stalls displaying Turkish language, literature, and traditions.
A documentary on Pak-Turkish relations and a student cultural performance celebrating friendship and shared values added to the occasion’s vibrancy.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of souvenirs to distinguished guests, marking a memorable celebration of brotherhood, mutual respect, and educational collaboration between Pakistan and Turkiye.
