LAHORE, Nov 07 (APP):A rickshaw driver was arrested for allegedly harassing a female student in the Defence B area after the Virtual Women Police Station of Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) took swift action on a complaint received through Helpline 15.
According to a PSCA spokesperson, the victim’s father reported that the suspect had been harassing his daughter regularly on her way to and from college. Upon receiving the report, the Virtual Women Police Station immediately dispatched a police team to the spot.
A female officer from the PSCA also contacted the student and assured her of complete protection. The police reached the site, apprehended the suspect red-handed, and registered a case against him.
Initial investigations revealed that the accused had been involved in similar activities in the past, the spokesperson added.
He further urged women to immediately contact Helpline 15 or use the Women Safety App in case of any harassment or unpleasant situation.
