SEOUL, Nov. 7 (Xinhua/APP): Three workers were confirmed dead on Friday in South Korea’s power plant boiler tower collapse, according to Yonhap news agency.
A 60-meter-high boiler tower, which was supposed to be dismantled, collapsed the previous day at a thermal power plant in Ulsan, about 310 km southeast of the capital Seoul.
Three workers were confirmed dead, while two others were presumed dead as they were found crushed under the structure.
Two workers remained accounted for, and two others suffered injuries after being rescued early on.
Search was underway with all available resources, including search dogs, acoustic detectors, endoscopes and thermal imaging cameras.
However, the search and rescue efforts were challenging as the collapsed steel structure and materials were densely intertwined.
