LAHORE, Nov 06 (APP):The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has intensified its campaign against irregularities in tax payments, conducting inspections across multiple cities to ensure transparency and compliance.
According to the spokesperson, records of several restaurants, cafes and marquees have been examined in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, and Vehari. During scrutiny, discrepancies and embezzlement in tax payments were detected. In many cases, businesses had collected tax from customers but failed to deposit it into the government treasury.
Enforcement officers seized records where irregularities were found and have been directed to suspend system connectivity for those operating outside the official e-IMS framework. The PRA spokesperson said that strict action would be taken against those submitting false data or concealing sales records.
The spokesperson emphasised that collecting tax from customers without depositing it in the government treasury is a punishable offence under PRA laws. Heavy fines have been imposed on violators, and the Authority is determined to ensure full transparency and the use of e-IMS across all registered businesses.
