LAHORE, Nov 06 (APP): Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique has announced that the journey of providing relief to patients will soon begin through the activation of the Gastroenterology Department at Mayo Hospital Lahore.
He disclosed this while chairing a meeting at King Edward Medical University on Thursday, where matters related to HR, budget, and other measures regarding the activation of the department were reviewed. Concerned officers briefed the minister on the latest progress in this regard.
Khawaja Salman Rafique said that, in line with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the government is making continuous efforts to provide the best possible health facilities to the people. He appreciated the role of philanthropists in supporting this initiative, adding that there is no greater virtue in the sight of Allah Almighty than serving humanity. The minister directed the concerned officers to resolve remaining issues, including HR, to ensure the early activation of the department.
Vice Chancellor of King Edward Medical University Professor Mahmood Ayaz said that Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique and Health Secretary Punjab Azmat Mahmood Khan have always provided valuable guidance and support for the promotion of medical education. He added that thousands of patients will benefit from state-of-the-art healthcare services once the Gastroenterology Department becomes operational.
The meeting was attended by Vice Chancellor Professor Mahmood Ayaz, Professor Abrar Ashraf, Professor Haroon Hamid, Professor Asghar Naqi, Chairman Gastroenterology Department Professor Imran, Aamir Siddique, and others. Additional Secretary Admin from the Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education, Khadija tul Kubra, also participated via video link.
