MIRPUR, Nov 6 (APP): Chairman of the Kashmir Council Europe (KCEU), Ali Raza Syed, on Thursday paid rich tribute to the martyrs of Jammu, saying that the martyrs of Jammu set a great example of sacrifice by giving their lives and powerfully highlighted the spirit of freedom throughout the region of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking at a gathering held at the central secretariat of the Kashmir Council Europe (KCEU) at European headquarters in Brussels to commemorate the martyrs of Jammu, Ali Raza Syed said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir can never forget the martyrs of Jammu, whose sacrifices strengthened the courage and resolve of the Kashmiri people, says a message reaching and released to the media here on Thursday.
Apart from Chairman Ali Raza Syed, other notable speakers and participants at the event included Khalid Raja, Fareed Khan, Rao Mustajab, Dr. Manzoor Zahoor, and Sheikh Majid.
It is worth remembering that on 6 November 1947, the Dogra ruler’s forces brutally massacred hundreds of thousands of Kashmiri Muslims in the Jammu region. To commemorate this tragic event, Kashmiris observe “Jammu Martyrs’ Day” every year on 6 November.
Ali Raza Syed stated that the sacrifices of the martyrs of Kashmir serve as a guiding light for Kashmiris struggling for freedom. He strongly condemned the ongoing atrocities committed by Indian forces in occupied Kashmir, calling for an immediate end to these violations, the release of all Kashmiri prisoners, including eminent political figures Yasin Malik and Shabbar Shah, human rights defender Khurram Pervez, and journalist Sajjad Gul, and the withdrawal of Indian troops from Jammu and Kashmir.
He further said that from the martyrs of Jammu on 6 November 1947 to the present day, all martyrs of Jammu and Kashmir have nurtured the Kashmiri freedom movement with their blood.
He added that the history of the Kashmiri freedom struggle is filled with spirit, sacrifice, and great devotion, and that the people of occupied Kashmir continue their relentless struggle for the noble cause of freedom.
KCEU’s Chairman Ali Raza Syed stated that Indian forces continue their brutal killings of Kashmiris, and it is shocking that the world remains silent in the face of such grave human rights violations.
He emphasized the need for a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue, urging the international community to play its effective role in this regard.
Other speakers declared that they will not remain silent on India’s oppression against innocent people in occupied Kashmir and will continue to raise their voices until the oppressed people of occupied Kashmir receive justice.
They also urged the international community, including the United Nations and the European Union, to take notice of the serious human rights situation in occupied Kashmir and to play an active role in finding a peaceful solution to the Kashmir dispute.
