Autism Rehabilitation Center and Pediatric Dentistry Unit inaugurated at JSMU

KARACHI, Nov 06 (APP): Sindh Minister for Universities and Boards, Ismail Rahu, Thursday said that this was just the beginning and would be expanded further in the future. He shared that 70 acres of land on Shahrah-e-Bhutto have been allocated for the promotion of higher education, and the Sindh government was taking robust measures to address the financial crisis faced by universities.
He added that the government was issuing a bailout package to ensure that academic activities in educational institutions are not disrupted and that the quality of education is improved.
The minister emphasized that primary school teachers in Sindh have been recruited on merit, and such large-scale recruitment has not been seen elsewhere in Pakistan.
The ceremony was attended by JSMU’s Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Nighat Shah, Registrar Dr. Azam Khan, Principal of SMC Professor Ambreen Usmani, Principal of SIOSH Professor Sajid Hanif, Executive Director of the National Institute of Child Health (NICH) Professor Nasir Siddal, Director of Administration Sohrab Zaman, and CEO of C-ARTS Dr. Irum Rizwan.
JSMU Vice Chancellor Professor Amjad Siraj Memon shared details of the MoU, stating that JSMU, NICH and C-ARTS will jointly establish a comprehensive rehabilitation center for children affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), which will provide clinical services as well as training, research, and community outreach.
The spokesperson added that JSMU would construct a three-story building within the NICH premises using its own financial resources, which would house all services including a psychosocial wellness center.
On this occasion, Minister Ismail Rahu also inaugurated the expansion of six new dental stations in the Pediatric Dentistry Unit, which will provide modern and improved dental care facilities for children.
