HYDERABAD, Nov 06 (APP):A meeting of the District Coordination Committee for the “Mamta Program” was held at the Deputy Commissioner Sanghar Office under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Abdul Majeed Zehrani to review the progress of the Sindh government’s ongoing initiative in the district.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Majeed Zehrani said that full implementation of the Mamta Program would have a positive impact on maternal and child health. He emphasized the need to extend the program to every corner of the district to ensure a healthy environment for pregnant women and newborns suffering from malnutrition.
District Coordinator of the Mamta Program, Kulsoom Joyo, informed the meeting that so far 86,332 pregnant women had been registered under the program. She added that 92 PPHI centers, three taluka hospitals and the Civil Hospital Sanghar have been included in the registration process.
She further said that the project had now been expanded to include mothers breastfeeding children up to 24 months, and that financial assistance was being provided through biometric verification under Bank Alfalah’s franchise network.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner directed officials to organize awareness seminars to ensure maximum benefit for women in rural areas and to submit progress reports every 15 days to the Deputy Commissioner’s office. He also instructed that SIMS Hospital Shahdadpur, be included in the program.
The meeting was attended by Dr Daulat Jamali, Dr Amjad Azam Sirewal, Additional Deputy Director Local Government Muhammad Moosa, PPHI Manager Majid Ali, Shafqat Kokhar, Dr Mehreen, Dr Sanober from SIMS Hospital and representatives of NADRA, HANDS and other relevant departments.
