ISLAMABAD, Nov 06 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police’s Humak Police foiled a major criminal conspiracy by a land-grab group and detained 11 suspects involved in staging a self-orchestrated shooting incident to mislead authorities.
An official told APP on Thursday that the gang, operating in the Humak and adjoining areas, shot their own associate Waqas and attempted to fabricate a violent narrative against rivals. He said the suspects blocked GT Road near a private housing society, incited the public, obstructed traffic flow and tried to create chaos to cover up their own crime.
He added that SHO Humak Irfan Abbas responded swiftly with his team, and despite strong resistance, verbal abuse and stone-pelting from the accused, the police controlled the situation and apprehended all 11 suspects on the spot.
According to the FIR, the arrested accused were identified as Waqas, Rafi, Bilal, Zubair, Zeeshan and Ali Sher, while five other associates of the same gang were also detained from the scene.
The official said that initial investigation has linked the detained accused to prolonged land-grabbing activities, threats, and intimidation tactics in different areas of Islamabad. A case has been registered under FIR 1042/25 invoking Sections 324, 148, 149, 447 and 511 PPC, while further arrests are expected as inquiries widen into their network.
SP City Division Muhammad Irfan applauded the operational success and stated:
“Zero tolerance is being ensured against organised land-grab elements. SHO Irfan Abbas and his team have shown commendable performance to protect citizens’ rights.”
A police spokesperson urged affected citizens to provide information about any occupation attempts so that legal action can be taken against offenders.
