MIRPUR, Oct 18 (APP):In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the Central Board of Revenue (CBR-AJK) has extended the last date for filing income tax returns for the ongoing tax year 2025 and fixed the new date as October 31, 2025, it was officially stated.
An official spokesman of the Inland Revenue Department told APP here on Saturday that the decision to this effect was taken keeping in view the public convenience and requests of taxpayers.
“In this regard, a regular notification has been issued by the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Central Board of Revenue vide number IRD/F-125/2025 dated October 16, 2025. All taxable individuals, the business community, traders’ associations, firms, companies, partnership businesses, professionals, and the salaried class are requested to submit their income tax returns for tax year 2025 on time before the due date to avoid any penalty, delay, or legal complications,” the spokesman said.
Also, the proposed tax payable should also be deposited in the government treasury through the online procedure, proving that they are responsible taxpayers, he added.
The spokesperson said that for the convenience of taxpayers, the Inland Revenue Department has provided special facilities at the e-filing portal and the nearest Regional Inland Revenue Offices, where trained staff are available to guide filers. Moreover, detailed information is also available for guidance on the helpline and the official website. The department has appealed to all citizens to file their returns as soon as possible to avoid rush or system load near the deadline, he added.
The spokesperson clarified that the state’s revenue system can be strengthened only with the cooperation of the citizens, and it is the duty of every citizen to submit their tax returns regularly so that resources for state development projects increase.
The spokesperson added that the extended date has also been updated in the latest AJ&K IRIS system of Azad Jammu and Kashmir to avoid any kind of technical difficulties.
