MIRPUR, Oct 16 (APP):Azad Jammu Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq has on Thursday directed State Electricity Department authorities to ensure the uninterrupted power supply to the consumers in both urban and rural areas of the state indiscriminately.
He was chairing a high-level meeting held in the state metropolis to review key matters related to the Department of Electricity.
He said that restoring power supply in remote and underdeveloped areas, installing new transformers, and enhancing grid station capacity are among the government’s top priorities.
Secretary of Electricity Irshad Qureshi, on the occasion, briefed the Prime Minister on the status of power transmission lines, feeder upgradation, transformer repair, and the overall condition of grid stations. He also highlighted the technical and financial challenges faced by the department.
Addressing the meeting, Prime Minister Haq issued immediate directions for the early repair of transmission lines, resolution of low-voltage issues, and upgradation of outdated feeders and transformers on a priority basis.
The Prime Minister assured that the government will take all possible measures to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply while improving the overall power infrastructure in Azad Kashmir. He instructed the Department of Electricity to identify all areas requiring improvement and take prompt action using available resources to provide maximum relief to the public.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of strengthening public trust in the government and formulating a comprehensive strategy to address the challenges facing grid stations and electricity distribution.
The meeting was attended by Senior Minister Col. (R) Waqar Ahmad Noor, Minister for School Education Diwan Ali Khan Chughtai, Minister for Public Works Chaudhry Azhar Sadiq, Minister for Health Nisar Ansar Abdali, Principal Secretary Zafar Mehmood Khan, and Secretary of Electricity Irshad Qureshi.
