AJK to hold grand walk to commemorate 2005 earthquake martyrs

MIRPUR (AJK), Oct 07 (APP):A grand walk to pay rich tributes to over 75000 martyrs of deadly earthquake of October 8, 2005 will be held here on Wednesday under the auspices of District Administration, global NGO Kashmir Orphan Relief Trust (KORT) and  the Civil Society on the eve of the 20th Anniversary of the killer catastrophe that hit bulk of AJK  besides adjoining KPK Province this day in 2005, it was officially said.
“The walk will commence from Quaid-e-Azam Mirpur International Cricket Stadium at 7:30 pm to pay tribute to the  victims of the horrific natural disaster, passing through various city streets including Quaid-e-Azam chowk, Mian Muhammad Road and central  Shaheed Chowk”, district administration spokesman told APP on Tuesday.
People from all walks of life, social and political organizations, students, civil society, traders and journalists, will attend.
Sirens will be played at 08.52 a.m to mark mourning and respect for the martyrs and other victims of the deadly earthquake, that had turned bulk part of Azad Jammu Kashmir including  State’s capital city of Muzaffarabad and Bagh into rubble besides causing huge loss of lives and properties in other parts of AJK including  Mirpur district.
