IRIB delegation visits PEMRA Headquarters

ISLAMABAD, Nov 05 (APP):A delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), led by Dr Ahmad Norouzi, visited the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Headquarters in Islamabad on Wednesday.
The visit was made in the backdrop of the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between PEMRA and SATRA (Iran’s audio-visual regulatory authority).
Acting Chairman of PEMRA Barrister Sikandar Rashid Chaudhry welcomed the delegation upon their arrival at the PEMRA HQs. They were given a detailed briefing on PEMRA’s regulatory framework.
The participants, on the occasion, engaged in a Q&A session regarding PEMRA’s operations, said a news release.
The delegation was also given a tour of PEMRA’s state-of-the-art monitoring setup, where they were briefed on content monitoring procedures. Souvenirs were exchanged between both sides during the visit.
Director General of IRIB International Affairs Dr Abbas Mohammadnejad, Director of Sahar Global Network Murtaza Shamsi, Dr Jaber Ali Mohammadi Nafchi, Director General of IRIB Sistan and Baluchistan, Hadi Gulraiz and Zahra Shabak were also part of the IRIB delegation.
The objective of the MoU, signed in Islamabad the other day, is to promote friendly relations and cooperation between the two institutions of Pakistan and Iran. It aims to strengthen collaboration in the exchange of information, media ethics, and the development of media policies.
This agreement provides both regulatory bodies with an opportunity to experience and learn from different media regulation models, ultimately enhancing the media systems in both countries.
