ISLAMABAD, Nov 05 (APP): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday gave a deadline to the Council of Islamic Ideology to submit a response in the case of Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani heard the case wherein the petitioner lawyer Dr. Aslam Khaki, Assistant Attorney General Usman Ghuman, Islamic Ideology Council officials and others appeared in the court.
The Islamic Ideology Council did not submit a written response and requested for a time in this regard, which the court accepted and gave the council a deadline of one week to submit a response.
The lawyer told the court that Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza has also decided to become a party in the case under hearing in the Islamabad High Court and filed a miscellaneous application, to which the Registrar’s Office has objected.
Muhammad Ali Mirza’s lawyer also said that there are objections to the application, so it is not before the court.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani said that first remove the objection and then court would pass an order on the application to become a party.
Dr. Aslam Khaki Advocate said that the council has exceeded its authority, adding that it can only give an opinion on the request of the President or the Governor of the province.
Justice Kayani said that they may have been given the powers of investigation.
Dr. Aslam Khaki said that the resolution of the Council of Islamic Ideology regarding Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza should be suspended, to which Justice Kayani said that it will be a little difficult as the other side has not responded yet.
The court said that it cannot issue an interim order until it see the other side’s response. The court is giving a week’s time, if there is no response, we will pass the order.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case until November 12.
