LAHORE, Nov 05 (APP): An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday ordered the discharge of eight workers of a  banned religious party in a case related to arson and vandalism due to insufficient evidence.
The hearing was conducted by ATC Administrative Judge Manzer Ali Gill, who announced the decision after reviewing the investigation report.
Earlier, Chung Police produced the accused before the court upon completion of their physical remand and sought an extension.
When the court inquired about recoveries made during the earlier remand, the investigating officer stated that nothing had been recovered and that the accused were merely present at the scene.
The judge observed that there was no justification to keep those in the case from whom nothing had been recovered, and subsequently ordered their discharge.
Those discharged include Ghulam Murtaza, Abdul Ghani, Jahangir Babar, Ali Raza, Karim Bakhsh, Jafar Ali, Muhammad Iqbal, and Ijaz Ahmad.
Chung police had registered a case against the accused on the charges of arson and vandalism during a recent protest.
