33 cases registered, Rs 3.2m fines imposed over smog violation

LAHORE, Nov 05 (APP): The police registered 33 cases, arrested several offenders, and imposed fines over Rs 3.2 million on 502 individuals for violating smog control regulations across the province during the last 24 hours,
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, 46 individuals were issued warnings during operations in Lahore and other districts. Reported violations included 91 cases of burning crop residues, 264 smoke-emitting vehicles, five industrial violations, and 11 brick kiln offenses.
The spokesperson added that since the beginning of this year, Punjab Police registered 2,135 cases and arrested 1,910 violators under the anti-smog campaign across Punjab. Fines exceeding Rs. 220 million have been imposed on 86,111 individuals, while 11,135 were issued warnings. Recorded violations included 886 crop residue burnings, 51,712 smoke-emitting vehicles, 1,708 industrial activities, and 3,299 brick kiln violations.
