Portugal showcases environmental and historical films at European Film Festival 2025

ISLAMABAD, Nov 05 (APP):The Embassy of Portugal in Islamabad will bring Portuguese cinema to Pakistani audiences through two films featured at the European Film Festival (EUFF) 2025, scheduled across Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore this November.

The embassy will screen two Portuguese films  A Sea of Trash and Snu, as part of the festival lineup, said in a Portuguese embassy press release issued here.

Directed by Tânia Paiva, A Sea of Trash (2019) is a short documentary highlighting the “Sea’s Brigade,” a volunteer group that cleaned 45 kilometers of Portugal’s coastline to raise awareness about marine pollution. The film will be screened at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), Islamabad, on 7–8 November.

The feature film Snu (2019), directed by Patrícia Sequeira, portrays the true story of Snu Abecassis and Francisco Sá Carneiro, whose relationship symbolized courage and conviction in post-revolutionary Portugal. It will be screened in Karachi on 16 November.
Organized by the EU Delegation in Pakistan, the fourth European Film Festival 2025 will run from 7 to 23 November, featuring films, documentaries, and short features from across Europe at venues in Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore.
