FAISALABAD, Nov 05 (APP):As preparations intensify for the upcoming One-Day International (ODI) series between Pakistan and South Africa, the visiting South African cricket team held an optional one-hour training session here on Wednesday while the Pakistan team opted to rest following their convincing victory in the opening match.
According to official details, the South African squad gathered at Iqbal Stadium for a light but focused training routine for fine-tuning their performance ahead of the second ODI.
The players participated in warm-up exercises followed by specialized batting, bowling and fielding drills under the supervision of the coaching staff.
The session was designed to help the players adapt to local conditions and regain rhythm after the first match’s defeat.
Team officials stated that the optional nature of the practice allowed senior players to choose between rest and active training with several key members spending extra time on batting technique and fielding agility.
The coaching team emphasized strategy and consistency as South Africa aims to level the series.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s squad remained off the field, taking a scheduled rest day to recover physically and mentally after their hard-fought win in the opening ODI.
Team spokesperson Shafqat Shabbir confirmed that no training session was held by the Pakistan side.
“The players deserved a well-earned break after their excellent performance in the first match. The team management decided to give them a full day rest before the next encounter”, he added.
