ISLAMABAD, Nov 05 (APP): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday sought comments from respondents in a plea against the appointment of plastic surgeon Dr. Abdul Khaliq as a supervisor burn surgeon at PIMS Hospital.
The court had served notices to the Ministry of Health, Executive Director PIMS, Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC), Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University and Dr. Abdul Khaliq for response in the case.
Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro heard the case against the aforesaid appointment. During the hearing on the petition of Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim and others, the petitioner’s lawyer Sajid Hameed Yousafzai appeared in the court and requested that the appointment of the plastic surgeon as a supervisor burn center be declared illegal.
He argued that the position was taken that Dr. Abdul Khaliq is a plastic surgeon and does not have education in burn care. He cannot be given any responsibility in any capacity in the burn care center. This appointment was made to a person who is completely unrelated to the burn care center, he said.
The lawyer said that this is not only a violation of the rights of the petitioners but also dangerous for public health. A qualified doctor should be appointed as the head of the burn care center at PIMS. The court issued a notice for response and took up the case. The hearing was adjourned until next week.
