Sahiwal Institute of Cardiology to offer world-class health facilities: Khawaja Salman

LAHORE, Nov 05 (APP):Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that the Sahiwal Institute of Cardiology will provide world-class health facilities to the people of the region.

He stated that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is committed to ensuring the best treatment facilities for heart patients across the province. The minister expressed these views while presiding over the first meeting of the Board of Management of the Sahiwal Institute of Cardiology, held at the Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education on Wednesday. Advisor to Health Punjab and Chairman Board Major General (retd) Dr Azhar Mahmood Kiani co-chaired the meeting.

A six-point agenda was presented and approved during the meeting. The legal status and notification of the institute were ratified, and approvals were given to open PLA and commercial bank accounts. The Board also approved the contract for security services and the establishment of a special fund to make the institute fully operational.

Khawaja Salman Rafique said the institute will soon become fully functional and offer advanced treatment facilities for cardiac patients. He reiterated that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is determined to uplift healthcare standards and provide modern medical services throughout Punjab.

Advisor to Health and Chairman Board Major General (retd) Dr. Azhar Mahmood Kiani welcomed all members to the inaugural Board meeting, emphasizing that collective efforts would help establish the institute as a transparent and modern model of healthcare.

Punjab Health Secretary Azmat Mahmood Khan directed immediate implementation of all decisions taken in the meeting.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department Azmat Mahmood Khan, Additional Secretary Technical Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Waseem, Additional Secretary Ashfaq-ur-Rehman, Naseem Sadiq, Professor Noreen Akmal, Dr. Khawar Saeed, Rehman Hamid, Principal Sahiwal Medical College Professor Akhtar, and MS Dr. Ilyas Anjum. Several participants also joined via video link.
