RAWALPINDI, Nov 05 (APP): Commissioner Rawalpindi Engineer Aamir Khattak on Wednesday directed the immediate removal of all temporary and permanent encroachments in Jhanda Chichi and adjoining areas to ensure smooth traffic flow during the Kacheri Chowk remodelling project.
Chairing a meeting at his office, he said the area must remain completely clear to manage the heavy traffic load and to prevent bottlenecks while construction is under way. He stressed strict enforcement against encroachments and instructed the officers concerned to keep the entire zone unobstructed at all times.
The commissioner also reviewed progress on the remodelling project and directed that work be executed in double shifts to ensure early completion. He further suggested temporary adjustments in school timings in the affected locality to facilitate students, parents and office-goers during the construction phase.
He ordered the departments concerned to maintain a daily activity chart, noting that he would personally inspect the site every day to monitor the pace and quality of work. To minimise inconvenience to the public, he directed the provision of clearly marked alternative routes and the deployment of additional traffic wardens at diversion points.
Additional Commissioner (Coordination) Xenia Humayun, the Superintending Engineer (Highways), the Director Development and officers from other relevant departments attended the meeting.
