LAHORE, Nov 05 (APP):Significant progress has been made in Data Darbar and Bhati Chowk remodeling and expansion project, as the LDA and TEPA teams carried out a large-scale joint operation in collaboration with the district administration and the Auqaf Department.
During the early morning operation, several encroaching shops and illegal structures built on government land in front of Data Darbar were demolished, and the site was completely cleared. A total of 16 kanals of state land — part of the remodeling plan was retrieved. The LDA and TEPA enforcement squads began the operation at dawn, supported by heavy machinery and police contingents. Teams from the District Administration and Auqaf Department also took part in the anti-encroachment drive.
Director General LDA Tahir Farooq visited the site early in the morning to review the ongoing operation. He was briefed by Chief Engineer TEPA Iqrar Hussain and LDA Director Enforcement Captain (R) Ahmad Faraz.
During the briefing, officials informed that the retrieved 16-kanal land has been incorporated into the Bhati Chowk and Data Darbar Remodeling and Expansion Project, which aims to improve traffic flow, enhance accessibility, and beautify the area around one of Lahore’s most visited religious and historical landmarks.
DG LDA directed the teams to remove debris immediately and instructed the Project Director to commence development work on the cleared land without delay.
