PESHAWAR, Nov 05 (APP):The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has released over Rs 1.4 billion to support the ongoing Clean Pakhtunkhwa campaign, following the directives of newly appointed Minister for Local Government, Elections and Rural Development Meena Khan Afridi.
According to an official notification issued by the Finance Department, a total of Rs 1,414.628 million has been sanctioned as an additional budgetary grant to fund cleanliness campaigns at the village council level across all 28 settled districts of the province.
The funds, approved in line with a decision taken during the 36th meeting of the provincial cabinet held on August 12, 2025, will be utilized to pay sanitation workers’ wages, fuel costs, and maintenance expenses of loader rickshaws used in cleaning operations.
The notification stated that Rs 127.113 million has been allocated specifically for Peshawar district, the most populous area of the province, adding the funds will be transferred directly to designated bank accounts of village councils, ensuring transparency in utilization.
The Finance Department has also directed that subsequent releases of funds will be subject to submission of actual progress reports every three months.
Minister Meena Khan Afridi said that the government had successfully taken the cleanliness mechanism to the grassroots level, adding that local participation was key to maintaining hygiene and sanitation in communities.
He urged citizens to actively support the cleanliness drive, emphasizing the government’s resolve to create a clean and healthy KP.
